Akeal Hosein Becomes ICC T20I No. 1 Bowler

Akeal Hosein celebrates becoming ICC T20I No. 1 bowler.

West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein celebrated a significant career milestone this week as he climbed to the top of the ICC Men’s T20I bowling rankings for the first time. The 31-year-old left-arm orthodox bowler surpassed England’s Adil Rashid to claim the coveted position, marking a remarkable achievement in his professional journey.

Hosein shared his elation through an emotional note on Instagram, accompanied by a video compilation of his wickets in T20I cricket. Reflecting on his rise, Hosein wrote, “I’m not usually one to post stats, but this one is special. Who would have thought, huh? The boy from the hood, the boy from Laventille, could be number 1 worldwide.” He continued, “Whatever is or was being said, for however long I may remain at this number, no matter what happens, let this serve as a reminder that I did it… That I am number 1.”
