Bangladesh secured their first Test win in the West Indies for 15 years, drawing the two-match series 1-1. The victory was built on a brilliant performance by spinner Taijul Islam, who took 5-50 on the fourth day as West Indies were bowled out for 185, handing Bangladesh a commanding 101-run win. Earlier, Jaker Ali played a pivotal role, scoring a Test-best 91 to help Bangladesh reach 268 all out, setting a challenging victory target of 287 runs for the West Indies.
The West Indies made a promising start in their chase, reaching 92-2, but a dramatic collapse saw them lose their final six wickets for just 42 runs. Kavem Hodge top-scored for the home side with 55, while captain Kraigg Brathwaite added 43— the only batter to score more than 20 runs.
This win marked Bangladesh’s first Test victory in the West Indies since their 2-0 series clean sweep in 2009. It also marked a historic achievement. Bangladesh became the first team to win three Tests away from home in a calendar year, following two victories against Pakistan in Rawalpindi in August and September.
