Barcelona Begins Catalan League with a Convincing Win

Barcelona kicked off their 2024 Catalan League campaign with a solid 90-77 victory over Morabanc Andorra. The win sets the Blaugrana up nicely for the final stages of the tournament, with their next challenge being a match against Girona. A win over Girona or a loss by less than three points will secure their place in the Final.

Kevin Punter and Nicolas Laprovittola led Barcelona’s charge, each scoring 16 points. Jabari Parker contributed 15 points, while Chimezie Metu made his presence felt with 12 points and nine rebounds. Their collective effort ensured a comfortable victory and showcased Barcelona’s strong start to the league.

Morabanc Andorra’s Shannon Evans and Sekou Doumbouya were impressive, both scoring 15 points. Despite their efforts, Andorra fell short, unable to match Barcelona’s pace and efficiency.

The 45th edition of the Catalan League is underway in Tarragona, featuring six teams: Barcelona, Joventut Badalona, BAXI Manresa, Hiopos Lleida, Basquet Lleida, and Andorra. Although Andorra hails from another region of Spain, they are affiliated with the Catalan Basketball Federation and are competing in this prestigious league.

Barcelona’s strong performance in their opening game sets a favorable tone for the rest of the tournament. Fans will be eagerly watching as Barcelona continues their quest for Catalan League glory.
