According to several reports, Blake Snell’s short time with the San Francisco Giants is over, as the left-handed pitcher has agreed to a generous five-year, $182 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The move sees Snell head to the defending World Series champions after he opted out of his two-year deal with the Giants earlier in November. Snell confirmed the news on social media, posting an image of himself edited into a Dodgers uniform.
The Giants, already facing challenges in a competitive NL West division, now find themselves in an even tougher spot. Adding Snell to the Dodgers’ roster further solidifies Los Angeles’ dominance in the division, placing an even wider gap between the Giants and their Southern California rivals. Snell will be part of an already strong pitching rotation that will likely feature Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Tyler Glasnow, making the Dodgers’ staff one of the toughest in the league.
In his lone season with the Giants, Snell posted a 5-3 record with a 3.12 ERA and 145 strikeouts over 104 innings. His standout moment of the year came on August 2, when he threw a no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds.
As Snell transitions to Los Angeles, the Giants will continue to see him regularly in the coming years, with the Dodgers and Giants set to face off frequently in the NL West, keeping the rivalry intense.
