Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove is awake and alert after collapsing on the pitch during his side’s Serie A match against Inter Milan on Sunday. The 22-year-old was rushed to intensive care following the incident, which occurred in the 16th minute of the match. The game was suspended shortly after Bove collapsed and was eventually abandoned.

Fiorentina issued a statement confirming that Bove had an “uneventful night” and was “awakened and extubated” the following morning, meaning the breathing tube was removed from his windpipe. The club added that Bove had been able to communicate with his family, teammates, and management, all of whom visited him immediately upon hearing the good news.

The incident occurred when Bove suddenly collapsed on the field, prompting immediate attention from medical staff. Both teams signaled for help and formed a protective ring around the midfielder. He was then taken off the pitch on a stretcher and transported by ambulance after the referee instructed both teams to leave the field.

Bove joined Fiorentina on a season-long loan from Roma in August, with an option to make the move permanent. He scored his first goal against Roma in October. Though he has represented Italy at various youth levels, he has yet to earn a senior cap.

Fiorentina provided further updates on Bove’s condition, stating that diagnostic tests are ongoing at Careggi University Hospital. The club also expressed gratitude for the professionalism and care shown by the medical team. Fiorentina confirmed that their Coppa Italia last-16 match against Empoli on Wednesday would go ahead as scheduled, following a video call between Bove and his teammates, coach, and staff. After hearing from their teammate, the team decided to proceed with preparations for the match.
