New Delhi, 28 August 2024—Hockey India has announced its 18-member squad for the Asian Champions Trophy, which will take place in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia, China, from September 8th to 17th, 2024. The tournament will see top hockey teams from Asia, including Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Japan, and hosts China, compete for the prestigious title.
Leading drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh will captain the Indian team, while seasoned midfielder Vivek Sagar Prasad will be vice-captain. This leadership duo is expected to provide tactical insight and dynamic play on the field.
Krishan Bahadur Pathak and Suraj Karkera will handle the goalkeeping duties. They will be supported by a solid defensive lineup featuring Jarmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Harmanpreet Singh, Jugraj Singh, Sanjay, and Sumit. This mix of experience and emerging talent is crucial for maintaining a strong defence.

The team will rely on Manpreet Singh, Mohd, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Nilakanta Sharma, and Raj Kumar Pal in the midfield. Raheel Mouse to control the game and connect the defence with the attack. Chief Coach Craig Fulton has emphasized the importance of this tournament as the beginning of a new Olympic cycle. “This is an important campaign for us to build on our ranking points. The team is motivated and ready for the challenge in China. We have introduced new talent, including debutant Gurjot Singh, who will have the opportunity to shine,” he stated.
India’s campaign will start on September 8th against China, followed by matches against Japan on September 9th, Malaysia on September 11th, and Korea on September 12th. A key game against Pakistan is scheduled for September 14th, with the semi-finals and finals set for September 16th and 17th, respectively.
