Juventus defeated Verona 3-0 on Monday to maintain their perfect start to the Serie A season. Dusan Vlahovic was the star of the night, scoring twice to secure Juventus’ second consecutive victory.
Under new head coach Thiago Motta, Juventus look revitalized as they aim to reclaim the Scudetto for the first time since the 2019/20 season. Motta, who replaced Massimiliano Allegri following his controversial exit after last season’s Italian Cup final, has instilled a new sense of aggression and tactical discipline in the team.
Vlahovic opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark, and Nicolo Savona, making his full debut, doubled the lead with a well-placed header from Samuel Mbangula’s cross just before halftime. Mbangula, recently promoted from the youth team, has already made a significant impact with a goal and two assists in his first two senior appearances.
The Serbian striker Vlahovic sealed the victory with a penalty early in the second half, ensuring Juventus maintained their spot at the top of the Serie A table. Vlahovic praised the new coach, saying, “Our attitude is the key to everything, and with the right mentality, everything works better.”
Juventus will face a tough challenge next as they prepare to host Roma on Sunday, a match that could test their early-season form. Meanwhile, Como earned their first Serie A point since 2003 with a 1-1 draw against Cagliari, thanks to Patrick Cutrone’s equalizer.
