Boulter Dominates Zakharova to Reach Hong Kong Open Semis

Katie Boulter powers into the Hong Kong Open semi-finals with a straight-sets win over Zakharova.

British number one Katie Boulter surged into the Hong Kong Open semi-finals with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Russia’s Anastasia Zakharova. Ranked 29th in the world, Boulter saved two break points in a tightly contested first set before securing a crucial break in the 10th game to clinch it.

The second set saw Boulter in full control, wrapping it up in just 30 minutes, highlighted by a stunning cross-court forehand during a rally in the fourth game. “The first set I think I was on another planet,” Boulter said, reflecting on her comeback after trailing 3-5.

Now, the second-seeded Boulter faces Chinese sixth-seed Yue Yuan, who defeated American Sofia Kenin 6-3, 6-3. At 28, Boulter is chasing her third WTA title of the season, having already triumphed in Nottingham and San Diego.
