Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen earned another gold medal to the People’s Republic of China’s collection in the women’s synchronized 3m springboard final in Paris 2024 in an incredible display of domination. The Chinese pair, reigning champions of the last three world titles in this event, achieved a score of 337.68, effortlessly outpacing their competitors.
Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen secured the gold medal with their impressive performance. Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook from the United States of America claimed silver with a score of 314.64. The bronze medal went to Great Britain’s Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen, who scored 302.28.
The competition began with a buzz inside the Aquatics Centre, quickly turning silent as Chang and Chen took their initial dive, scoring 52.80. The Chinese pair set an unbeatable pace, maintaining their lead throughout the event. Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook, known as “Cook’N’Bacon,” secured silver, maintaining their position from the second round onwards.
A dramatic turnaround saw the British pair Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen move from sixth place after round three to clinch bronze. Australia’s Maddison Keeney and Anabelle Smith, who were in third place going into the final dive, faltered and finished fifth, which allowed Harper and Mew Jensen to take bronze.
The women’s synchronized 3m springboard final was a thrilling spectacle. Consistent and flawless dives underscored Chang and Chen’s dominance. The Chinese pair’s early lead set the tone for the competition, making it clear that the battle would be for silver and bronze.
