Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has been bestowed with the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) honorary membership, marking another remarkable achievement in his illustrious career. The MCC, one of Australia’s oldest and most iconic cricket institutions, shared the news on Friday through its official social media platform, acknowledging Tendulkar’s extraordinary contributions to the sport.

In a statement, the club celebrated Tendulkar as an icon of cricket, highlighting his unparalleled legacy and influence. The honorary membership underscores the respect and admiration Tendulkar commands globally for his accomplishments on and off the field.

The MCC, which plays a key role in managing the renowned Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), recognized Tendulkar’s association with the venue. The former Indian captain enjoyed notable success at the MCG, accumulating 449 runs in five Test matches at an average of 44.90, including one century and three half-centuries. His overall record in Australia is equally stellar, amassing 3,630 runs in 39 Tests.

Tendulkar’s cricketing journey began in 1989 with his Test debut against Pakistan and concluded in 2013 against the West Indies. He set numerous records over a remarkable 24-year career, becoming the all-time leading run-scorer in cricket history. Representing India in 200 Tests, 463 ODIs, and a T20I, Tendulkar amassed an unprecedented 34,357 runs, including 100 centuries and 164 fifties, with a career-best score of 248 not out.
