Shaheen Afridi and PCB Have Come to a Somewhat Uneasy Agreement

The PCB and Shaheen Shah Afridi have settled their differences after meeting PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Afridi at Kakul today. Afridi, who was removed as Pakistan T20I captain after one series, was upset with how he was treated and the lack of communication from the board. Things worsened when the PCB released a statement on their website with quotes from Afridi, supposedly showing his support for the new captain, Babar Azam.

Afridi was upset that the statement contained words he didn’t say, and the PCB admitted they made a mistake. Although Afridi still feels his removal wasn’t fair, he’s willing to move on. His relationship with Babar remains strong, and there’s no worry about Afridi missing the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand.

Afridi’s dissatisfaction prompted PCB chairman Naqvi to visit the training camp at Kakul. The PCB stated that Naqvi met with players to see how the camp was going. Although a photo of Naqvi and Afridi shaking hands was released, there wasn’t a lengthy discussion between them. The PCB praised the players’ dedication to the camp, and the training ends on April 8. New Zealand will play five T20Is in Pakistan starting April 18.
