Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivered a stunning performance as the Oklahoma City Thunder secured a dominant 134-114 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. The 26-year-old Canadian guard lit up the scoreboard with 40 points in just 29 minutes, leading the Thunder to a resounding win and avenging their loss to the Cavaliers from the previous week.
Gilgeous-Alexander received strong support from Luguentz Dort, who added 22 points, and Jalen Williams, who contributed 19 points, as the Thunder overwhelmed their opponents with a relentless offensive display. The victory leaves both teams tied with identical 34-6 records, positioning them as leaders in their respective conferences and underlining the Thunder’s status as serious contenders this season.
Reflecting on the game, Gilgeous-Alexander emphasized the significance of facing top-tier competition. “It’s the cream of the crop, and you want to test yourself against the best to find out where you are. We tested ourselves, and I think we passed,” he said.
Elsewhere in the league, DeMar DeRozan‘s 31-point performance helped the Sacramento Kings halt the Houston Rockets’ five-game winning streak with a 132-127 triumph. Other notable results included victories for the Phoenix Suns over the Washington Wizards, the Indiana Pacers over the Detroit Pistons, and the Los Angeles Clippers, who cruised past the Portland Trail Blazers.
