The final round of the Stiles Electrical Premier League home and away season brought thrilling conclusions and set the stage for the upcoming finals.
Men’s Competition
YMCC secured their final spot with a decisive 4-0 victory over Mods-OGM. The match began with a deadlock, but YMCC broke through with a field goal from Max Freedman and a penalty corner goal by Timothy Fleay, leading 2-0 at halftime. They continued their dominance in the second half, adding another penalty corner goal by Luke Blee and a field goal, ultimately sealing their place in the finals and leaving WASPS, Reds, and Westside Wolves behind.
Westside Wolves and UWA played to a 1-1 draw in other matches, while Victoria Park triumphed 3-0 over Whitford. Fremantle Cockburn and Melville ended in a 1-1 draw. Reds, led by Brodee Foster’s hat-trick, achieved a commanding 7-0 victory over North Coast Raiders, with Foster also securing the Eric Pearce top goal scorer award. WASPS narrowly defeated Hale 4-3 but fell short of advancing to the finals.
Women’s Competition
Reds ended their season on a high note with a 5-1 win over North Coast Raiders, aided by a cameo appearance from Hockey roo Jane Claxton. Madison Fitzpatrick opened the scoring for the Reds, but North Coast Raiders equalized through Anna Roberts. The Reds regained the lead in the third quarter with a field goal from Asta Fisher and dominated the final quarter, scoring three more goals from Britt Wang, Claxton, and Bella Connelly.
Victoria Park’s Beatriz Monger-Molowny clinched the Women’s top goal scorer title with two goals in a 6-1 win over Whitford. Westside Wolves and UWA drew 1-1. Suburban Lions strengthened their finals position with a 4-0 victory over Melville. WASPS also secured a win, defeating Hale 3-1.
Division 2
In the men’s Division 2, UWA edged out Westside Wolves 2-1, Curtin University and Reds finished 2-2, YMCC dominated Mods-OGM 8-1, Whitford narrowly defeated Victoria Park 2-1, Fremantle Cockburn won 5-0 against Melville, and Hale defeated WASPS 3-1.
In the women’s Division 2, UWA beat Westside Wolves 3-0, YMCC, with four goals from Bente Baekers, defeated Hale 5-1, Suburban Lions won 1-0 against Melville, and North Coast Raiders and Reds ended in a 2-2 draw.
