England’s dynamic all-rounder Tom Curran has officially signed up for the upcoming player draft of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10, marking his return to one of the most celebrated franchise cricket leagues. The announcement was made on Wednesday via PSL’s social media platforms, accompanied by a video compilation showcasing Curran’s wicket-taking prowess during his stint with three-time champions Islamabad United.

“English All-rounder Tom Curran has officially signed up for the HBL PSL Draft,” read the statement from the PSL, sparking excitement among cricket fans.

Tom Curran, known for his versatility as an all-rounder, has represented England in two Test matches, 28 ODIs, and 30 T20Is, with his last international appearance in the shortest format coming against Pakistan in July 2021. Despite limited recent international action, Curran has become one of the most sought-after players in global franchise cricket. With an impressive T20 record of 214 matches, Curran boasts 1970 runs and 229 wickets, cementing his reputation as a match-winner.

Curran’s experience in the PSL is limited but impactful. He featured in the league’s 2023 edition for Islamabad United, delivering a commendable performance with eight wickets in five matches and contributing 21 runs. His signing for PSL 10 promises to add depth and excitement to the league, given his reputation as a game-changer.

The PSL confirmed that Curran is the third English player to register for the player draft, joining compatriots Jason Roy and David Willey. Other international stars in the draft pool include Australia’s Usman Khawaja, Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza, and Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman, making the roster an exciting mix of global talent.

This year, the PSL is set to make history by hosting its player draft in Balochistan for the first time. The much-anticipated event will occur in Gwadar, the picturesque port city, on January 11, 2025. This landmark decision reflects the league’s commitment to promoting cricket across all regions of Pakistan.

The pick order for the draft has also been announced, with two-time champions Lahore Qalandars securing the first pick in the platinum category. Arch-rivals Karachi Kings will follow with the second pick, while 2019 champions Quetta Gladiators will pick third. Peshawar Zalmi will take the fourth pick, while last season’s runners-up Multan Sultans and reigning champions Islamabad United will make the fifth and sixth picks, respectively.
