Liverpool FC Announces Arne Slot as New Head Coach

Arne Slot become Liverpool FC Head Coach.

Liverpool Football Club has officially announced the appointment of Arne Slot as the new head coach, set to take over on June 1, 2024, pending work permit approval. The 45-year-old Dutch coach will take over from Jürgen Klopp, who is stepping down at the end of this season.

Arne Slot joined Liverpool from Feyenoord, where he had a fantastic run. In his three years there, he led the team to win the Eredivisie title in 2023 and also clinched the KNVB Cup in April 2024 with a 1-0 victory over NEC Nijmegen. His impressive performance earned him the Eredivisie Manager of the Year award twice.

Before Feyenoord, Arne Slot was the head coach at AZ Alkmaar. Under his guidance, AZ was a strong contender, finishing second in the league, just behind Ajax, when the 2019-20 season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a player, Slot was a midfielder and played for clubs like FC Zwolle, NAC Breda, Sparta Rotterdam, and PEC Zwolle before retiring in 2013.

Arne Slot will be the first Dutch head coach in Liverpool FC’s history. He will start preparing for the 2024-25 season with the team in July.

Liverpool fans are eagerly looking forward to this new chapter with Slot at the helm. The club believes his fresh ideas and proven track record will bring exciting times ahead. Welcome, Arne Slot!
